Something for every stage of Development
Outdoor play is a big part of our Preschool Program. The playground is a place where children’s play can take off and flourish. Our playground is designed in such a way that children’s play can come to full expression - where they can make a mess, run, jump and hide, shout, and explore the natural world. The playground is directly accessible from each classroom, allowing for smooth transitions from in-to outdoor play.
We feel outdoor play is critical for young children in our early childhood program. Many of the developmental tasks that children must achieve—exploring, risk-taking, fine and gross motor development and the absorption of vast amounts of basic knowledge—can be most effectively learned through outdoor play. Play enables young children to learn so much about the world: Can sticks stand up in sand? How do plants grow? How does mud feel? Why do we slide down instead of up? How do I make my tricycle go faster? How does the overhang of the building create cool shade from the sun? Do butterflies have to learn to fly?
Designed for multi-age use, the playground at JAHM Chai Tots Preschool thrills children and encourages many different types of play.
Our outdoor block center allows children to use their whole body and mind to create new ways to play – from building a balance beam, to creating their own castle, the outdoor blocks provide virtually limitless opportunities for the children to play. Our sand and water tables also engage children to explore the world a little differently. They are able to make water flow or stop, fill things, see how funnels work and even send a boat sailing down the table.
